Become a qualified person for the UVV inspection of racking systems
Incorrect loading, outdated construction, or loose screws can turn racking systems into a high-risk hazard, leading to serious, life-threatening accidents and significant property damage. To ensure employee safety at all times, racking systems in businesses are classified as work equipment and must therefore undergo a professional safety inspection (UVV) at least once a year by a qualified person. Thanks to the corresponding training course at the LTS Academy, you can independently implement and document accident prevention measures and ensure compliance with insurance regulations. Although storage racks are generally designed to withstand heavy loads, their load-bearing capacity is eventually reached. If the permissible payload is exceeded, the system is damaged, repairs are carried out improperly, or stability is compromised, the permanent protection of employees is no longer guaranteed. The employer is responsible for ensuring safety within the company. This includes the equipment used and operated. According to DIN standard EN 15635 dated August 1, 2009, stationary and movable racking systems and cabinets must be regularly inspected for safety. This requires a weekly visual inspection by a qualified employee and, if necessary, but at least once a year, an inspection by a competent person for racking system testing. Racking systems subject to mandatory inspection include, among others:
Archive shelves
Drive-in racking
Drive-through racking
Flow racks
Shelving units
Cantilever racks
Pallet racking
multi-story buildings.

UVV shelf inspection
The annual rack inspection may only be carried out by a qualified person for the inspection of racking systems. According to DGUV Regulation 108-007 Storage facilities and equipment (formerly BGR 234), a qualified person is defined as "someone who, based on their professional training and experience, possesses sufficient knowledge of the respective work equipment and is familiar with the relevant national occupational safety and health regulations, accident prevention regulations, and generally accepted rules of technology (e.g., BG rules, DIN standards, VDE regulations, technical rules) to such an extent that they can assess the safe working condition of the work equipment."
