Skip or tipping containers, or simply containers, are receptacles for holding various types of cargo. They are equipped with special lifting and tipping devices. These operations, in particular, pose an increased risk of accidents. Therefore, skip containers and the equipment used in their operation must undergo regular inspections in accordance with accident prevention regulations (UVV). The German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) recommends in its regulation 214-016 that a UVV inspection be carried out at least once a year. For continuous use and heavy loads, shorter inspection intervals are necessary to ensure ongoing safety – and in any case, the container inspection must be carried out by a qualified person in accordance with DGUV regulations. to carry out tests that are officially suitable for UVV container testing.
Why thorough training is necessary for container inspection
A proper safety inspection (UVV) for swap bodies and containers is therefore of particular importance because these are not permanently installed pieces of equipment, contain different goods, and are almost always used in conjunction with various suspension and transport devices. For occupational safety, it is therefore crucial to be able to inspect not only the tipping containers themselves, but also the associated vehicle and conveying technology for their proper condition. Requirements:
Only persons who, based on their vocational training, professional experience and recent professional activity, are authorized to inspect, maintain and, if necessary, repair appropriate work equipment may be appointed as competent persons for containers (TRBS1203).
