Competent person
for testing PPE against falls

according to DGUV Principle 312-906,
DGUV I 212-515

Befähigte Person PSA Absturz

In many industrial and construction sectors, including cleaning and repair work on facades, wearing personal protective equipment against falls from height (PPE) is essential. Every employee covered by statutory accident insurance must use it when there is a risk of falling, if other technical or organizational forms of fall protection are not possible. Similarly, principle 312-906 of the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) stipulates that every company must have a qualified person capable of inspecting existing PPE against falls from height. The LTS Academy keeps you and your employees up-to-date on this topic, enabling you to carry out the legally required and recurring inspections of fall protection equipment yourself.

Checking personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls can save lives in case of doubt.

Regardless of whether personal protective equipment against falls from height (PPE) is designed as a fall arrest or restraint system, its inspection must ensure that the components, such as harnesses, anchor points, and connecting elements, function correctly together. As a qualified person for inspecting PPE against falls from height, you must ensure that there are no signs of wear or hidden damage that could pose a risk to life and limb. You must also be able to assess the impact forces that occur during normal operation and, if necessary, instruct users on the proper use of the protective equipment.
