Who is the course suitable for?

This seminar is aimed at individuals who wish to train forklift operators, conduct examinations, and issue operator licenses in the future. Participants will acquire the necessary expertise to train forklift operators in a qualified and legally compliant manner, in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-001.

Note: “Forklift” and “industrial truck” mean the same thing and are often used synonymously.

What qualifications do I need to become a forklift truck instructor?

  • Completed qualification as a forklift operator [ You can obtain your forklift license here .]

  • at least two years of experience in handling or using industrial trucks

  • Ability to convey training concepts and lead a group through a course. This can be demonstrated, for example, by:

    • Master's degree

    • at least four years of experience in an equivalent role (e.g., manager, team leader, warehouse manager)

    • Instructor's certificate

  • Physical and mental fitness

  • minimum language level B2

👉 Good to know: If you don't yet have a forklift license but can demonstrate relevant driving experience, a combination of forklift license and forklift operator instructor training is also possible. Our e-learning platform provides the theory, while the practical training is integrated into the instructor course.

  • DGUV-compliant and legally secure forklift training in accordance with DGUV Principle 308-001 and DGUV Regulation 68

  • Understanding and application of additional relevant regulations, in particular DGUV Regulation 1

  • Independent and legally compliant implementation of theoretical and practical forklift training in accordance with DGUV requirements

  • Methodology and didactics: clear and practice-oriented preparation of learning content, presentation techniques, assessment and documentation of learning outcomes

  • Legal responsibilities and liability obligations of the instructor

  • Development of training plans and execution of theoretical and practical examinations

  • Examples of practical exercises, setup of training and examination courses

  • Learning and applying the three-step training model: general training, additional training, and company-specific training for industrial trucks

  • Evaluation of examination results and issuance of legally compliant certificates and operator licenses for industrial trucks

 

Contents

Course Structure & Duration

The course lasts three days and is divided into several training phases:

  • Day 1: Self-learning phase (workbook, e-learning + theoretical examination)

  • Day 2: Theoretical instruction (Live Online Seminar; 8:30 a.m. – approx. 3:00 p.m.)

    • preparation of the assignment (15-minute short teaching session)

  • Day 3: Practical training, teaching demonstration, final examination

To ensure optimal learning outcomes, the course is conducted in small groups of no more than four participants.

Caution regarding one-day courses and purely e-learning or PDF-based programs

Instructor training programs for industrial trucks are only recognized if they include a practical component, a teaching demonstration, and a methodologically and didactically sound training concept.

Offers without a practical training day, purely online courses, or PDF-only self-learning modules do not comply with the requirements of DGUV Principle 308-001.
Failure to comply may result in significant liability risks in the event of an incident.

The participation fee is €1549 (plus VAT) and includes:

  • Nationally recognized certificate of completion “Instructor for industrial trucks” (DGUV 308-001) – entitles the holder to independently conduct training courses, take examinations and issue driver's licenses.

  • Personalized ID card, optional: with photo and company logo

  • Own inspection stamp with registered inspector number

  • USB drive containing all regulations, instructions and guidelines as well as
    a customizable PowerPoint lesson and certificate templates

  • Personal training folder including sample curriculum
